Dear Parents,
As another year ends, I hope that you enjoy the enclosed accounts and quotations written by the children following trips, visits and events that have taken place over the last few months.
One of the highlights of the summer term is the Upper School production which, this year, saw the girls perform the musical ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’. From the audience response and lovely comments afterwards, everyone thoroughly enjoyed it – not least Year 6 – after all it was their ‘pièce de rèsistance’!
I was so pleased that we have been able to hold both the Reception/Year 1 and Year 2 – 6 Sports Days this year (we managed to have a quick picnic before the rain descended upon us once again). Both were joyous occasions celebrated by all those who came. The Pre-Reception Music & Movement session shared with their parents provided a great opportunity for all to get physical – it was fantastic – unfortunately I had an alternative job manning the camera and so couldn’t join in!!!!
The school fete, orchestrated superbly by FLS, was also a roaring success – a glorious day weather wise. The spirit of the event was brimming with happiness with beaming smiles everywhere – a wonderful atmosphere! The extraordinary effort put in by parents was duly rewarded with an amazing total of around £8,500 being raised – Wow!
It was lovely to welcome parents into school on Thursday last week, for our ‘in house’ Open Afternoon. The children always love to take you around and show you the school and their work, and also introduce you to their new form teachers for next year.
May I take this opportunity to wish you a relaxing holiday – in having the opportunity to change our routines, we will be ready to take up the mantel of September 2013 either at Lyonsdown or to those whose children are leaving, as parents at a new school.
