Music has been ringing out from across the Lyonsdown community – in pupils’ homes, as well as in School, from the girls in Pre-Reception and our onsite bubbles.
All pupils enjoy Music each week, even during Lockdown – with live lessons from our specialist Music teacher, Mrs Roberts. The range of musical activities in which pupils take part, vary across the year groups. Year 2 have been learning how to draw pitch lines, whilst Year 4 have been using lots of recycling and junk from home to make their own instruments to use in lessons. Year 3, who have been studying music from China, have been composing their own pentatonic melodies.
“I’m delighted that Music continues to thrive during Remote Education,” says Lyonsdown’s Head, Mrs Stanton-Tonner. ‘It is such an important part of our curriculum and gives the children opportunities to explore their musical creativity on a wide variety of levels. Keeping our timetable as near to normal as we can, is an important factor for us with our remote provision, and we very much want to keep our pupils happy and fulfilled at this time. It is therefore wonderful that they can still come together – albeit virtually – to both learn about, and make, Music.”
