Lyonsdown’s pupils, from Pre-Reception class all the way through to Year 6, are continuing to enjoy their language lessons through lockdown – with Mme Walker, our specialist Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) teacher.
“When learning a language, it’s important to steadily and continually introduce new words, as well as reinforce and repeat words already learnt,” says Lyonsdown School’s Head, Mrs Stanton-Tonner. “So it has been imperative to keep our MFL lessons timetabled during Remote Education, to ensure that consistency for our pupils.”
For example, last week, across the school, pupils have been building on their vocabulary in a variety of ways. Some pupils have been revising how to say the date in French, the time and what the weather is like. In Year 6 the focus has been on fruit and clothes. The girls particularly enjoyed taking part in an exercise where they had to pack different clothes into an imaginary suitcase, and fruits into a box.
