Last Friday, in their History lesson with Mrs Windsor, Year 6 learnt how, at the turn of the 20th century, the women of the suffragette movement “Chose to Challenge”. The girls researched key figures such as Millicent Fawcett, Emmeline Pankhurst and Emily Davidson. Pupils noted the passion held by the suffragettes in their fight for the right of women to vote. It was in 1918, that women in Britain first achieved the vote, but only to those aged over 30. They had to wait another 10 years before the voting age was aligned with men at 21 years of age.
