With only five months before the new academic year, when children will be officially starting school in our Reception Class, Lyonsdown School are launching their new Little Lyons Launchpad ‘Countdown to Reception’ – a series of helpful monthly tips for families to support and encourage their daughters to be ready for September.
“We know and understand that joining School full-time into Reception class can sometimes take a little bit of re-adjustment for children,” says Lyonsdown School’s Head, Mrs Stanton-Tonner. “Whilst many girls may already attend a nursery, or – in our case – our Little Lyons Pre-Reception class, it is still a very significant change. Reception is full-time and girls begin to have more structure to their day and to their learning. There are many areas that families can begin to consider over the next few months to prepare their child – be it practically, emotionally or developmentally.”
Our helpful hints and tips are compiled by our expert EYFS team at Lyonsdown – who have considerable experience in supporting and encouraging girls to develop across all areas – in and outside the classroom, and in their confidence and character.
Each month there will be a practical tip for supporting your daughter’s transition, as well as one that offers some developmental advice. Importantly, each month, there will also be some guidance that is specifically tailored to families – as we know and understand that parents and guardians often need a little bit of support to help re-adjust to their child joining school too!
Our Little Lyons Launchpad ‘Countdown to Reception’ will be available on our website, as well as via email direct to your inbox. If you aren’t already in our Little Lyons Pre-Reception, or registered to join our Reception class in September, do let us know if you would like to receive these by emailing: enquiries@lyonsdownschool.co.uk .
“We are known and loved for being a family school,” concludes Mrs Stanton-Tonner. “We hope that our new ‘Countdown to Reception’ hints and tips will support families over the coming months to ensure that starting Reception class in September is a wonderfully smooth transition in what has been an incredibly tumultuous year.”
