We are passionate about sport at Lyonsdown and aim to instil a lifelong enthusiasm for sport and its many benefits during our pupils’ time at school. Participation is encouraged and pupils have the opportunity to represent the school in the numerous fixtures arranged throughout the year. Through sport, we teach the valuable lessons that can be learnt from winning and losing, both as an individual and as part of a team. Most importantly, we want all pupils to enjoy their sport and to work hard at whatever level they choose to play.
Early Years Foundation stage
At Lyonsdown, PE lessons support a child’s physical development by focusing on the following aspects:
- Movement and Space – how children learn to move with confidence, imagination and safety, with an awareness of space, themselves and others.
- Health and Bodily Awareness –how children learn about the importance of keeping healthy and the factors that contribute to maintaining their health.
- Using Equipment and Materials – the ways in which children use a range of small and large equipment.
