Lyonsdown School Admissions Process
Lyonsdown School is an Independent School for girls from 3 to 11. The main entry point into the School is at 3 years old, into our Pre-Reception.
Choosing a school for your child is one of the most important decisions you can make and we understand how important it is to find the right one.
Lyonsdown Preparatory School is a non-selective school. The School offers places to prospective pupils who we consider will benefit from opportunities at the School and therefore contribute sufficiently to the School community. We will only offer a place if we can cater for the prospective pupil’s needs bearing in mind our obligations under the Equality Act 2010. The school has a legal duty to ensure that it is able to meet the needs of all pupils, and pupils with Special Education Needs will be admitted as long as the school is able to meet those needs by implementing reasonable adjustments.
The admissions process for entry in the School is as follows:
-
Step One
Visit Us
All prospective parents are always welcome and encouraged to visit us at any time. We have two Open Mornings every term, which are advertised on our website. This is an ideal opportunity to explore all that we have to offer as well as meet the individuals who make our school such a wonderful place to be, our pupils. We also welcome you to view the school at any other time for a private tour. We welcome families to our ‘Stay and Play’ sessions for 0-3 year olds, please contact us for dates of these.
-
Step Two
Register your child
Once you have visited the School and feel Lyonsdown is the school for your daughter, you can register her by completing our Registration Form
-
Step Three
The offer of a place
For our Pre-Reception intake, following registration, as above, and subject to a place being available, you will be invited to a meeting with the Head, early in the Autumn Term, approximately 12 months prior to your child starting Pre-Reception. This meeting will last approximately one hour and include a tour of the school. Following this visit, offers will be made.
For Reception places, the admission process for these places will be the same as the Pre-Reception procedure above.
For all other chance places for Years 1 to 6, please contact the Registrar, admissions@lyonsdownschool.co.uk, to enquire as to the availability of places. If available, we will be delighted to invite you to visit the school and to arrange a taster day for your daughter, where she will spend the day with us, for an informal assessment and to spend time in the class.
-
Step Four
Acceptance
To accept a place, return the completed Acceptance Form with the deposit, which will be sent with the offer of a place. You will have two weeks to respond. Returning this form will secure your daughter’s place at Lyonsdown.
During the Summer term, there will be two opportunities for you to visit, with your daughter, to welcome you all to the Lyonsdown community and to meet your daughter’s new teacher.
