1. Visit us – virtually & in person!
We are delighted to welcome visitors to tour Lyonsdown. Prospective families can join one of our ‘School in Action’ tour mornings, held during the week, or one of our Open Mornings held each term. To see when our next open events are taking place, please click here. Before you visit us in person, parents can also take a ‘virtual visit’ to learn a little more about our School.
2. Arrange a Meeting with our Head
We would be delighted to arrange a meeting with our Head at a time that is convenient for your family. Mrs Rittu Hall would be happy to tell you more about Lyonsdown and to answer any questions you may have about the education we offer, or how to join the School.
3. Register your Daughter
Once you feel that Lyonsdown is the right school for your daughter, the next step is to register her by completing our Registration Form. This form should be completed and returned to the School, along with the non-refundable fee of £100. Families are encouraged, where possible, to register early. Registered families are invited to key events (where possible) and, should there be a demand for places, girls who are registered earliest will be offered spaces first.
4. ‘Compass Conversations’
Girls joining us in our Pre-Reception and Reception classes will be invited to meet our Head and, together with their parents, take part in our informal ‘Compass Conversations’. This approach allows us to know your daughter and ensure that the School can best meet her needs. These meetings usually take place in the Autumn term of the year prior to your daughter starting, although it can take place at any point, if families prefer and if places are available. Girls joining us in other year groups across the School are invited to a Taster Day where they will take part in ‘Compass Conversations & Challenges’. These are not formal assessments, but instead are an informal and friendly way for the School to best understand her needs.
5. Being Offered & Accepting a Place
Shortly after our ‘Compass Conversations’ we write to families to, where appropriate and in accordance with our Admissions Policy and Procedures, offer a place at Lyonsdown School. Places are offered in order of date of registration, after sibling and alumni places have been offered. If your daughter is offered a place, the offer is subject to our Parent Contract (Terms & Conditions), which you will be sent, along with the offer, which clearly shows the terms of agreement between you and the School. You will also be sent the Acceptance Form. You can accept an offer by completing our Acceptance Form and returning it to the School along with a deposit of £2,000. This deposit is non-returnable should your daughter not join the School.
6. Preparing your Daughter to Join
We have a range of activities and events to support your daughter’s transition to School. During the Summer term, prior to starting, there are several opportunities for you to visit with your daughter, to welcome you all to the Lyonsdown community and to meet your daughter’s new teacher. Full details will be sent to you on registration and throughout the year before your daughter joins us.
