Every autumn, the annual ISA National Art Competition takes place, inviting participation from all pupils at ISA schools. It is an excellent platform for schools to showcase their students’ artistic talents and for teachers to share innovative practice and ideas. The competition is held in two stages – the Regional Area art competitions and the National Final. There are dozens of categories which cover all age groups and multiple genres, including 2D and 3D art, textiles, drawing, fashion and photography.

We are proud to announce that Lyonsdown pupils from all key stages were successful in several categories at the regional area art competition:

First Place Winners

  • Arya, Year 4 ( Art 2D Individual, Key Stage 2) ‘Feeling Blue’
  • Last year’s Year 6 Class (Art 2D Group work, Key Stage 2) ‘Portrait of Simone Biles‘
  • Year 2 Class (3D Group work) ‘Flock of Birds’
  • Year 4 Class (Fashion) ‘Firebird Dress’

Second Place Winners

  • Melissa, Year 1 (Art 2D Individual, EYFS/Key Stage 1) ‘Sunflowers’
  • Year 1 Class (Art 2D Group work, Key Stage 1) ‘Colourful Lady’
  • Year 2 Class (3D Group work) ‘Flock of Birds’
  • Year 6 pupils: Sienna, Nikki, Anindita, Ivy, Myla, Hannah, Ameline, Emmeline (3D Group work) ‘Magical Cupcakes’

The first-place winning entries will be exhibited at the National Finals next month and will be judged by an independent adjudicator.

“Our girls continue to amaze us with their creativity, and it’s incredible to see their artwork consistently reach the ISA National Art Competition finals,” shared Mrs Cowie, our Specialist Art & DT Teacher. “We’re thrilled that so many individual and group pieces have been recognised this year. Huge congratulations to all the talented pupils whose work was selected for the competition!”

Well done to all our participants who took part. We are especially excited that the first-place entries will be exhibited at the National Finals next month. Best of luck to our talented girls as they represent Lyonsdown on a national level.
