Year 3 enjoy memorable Forest School afternoon with families at Belmont School

Year 3 enjoyed a truly special Forest School afternoon alongside their parents at Mill Hill Belmont, where they embraced an enriching programme of outdoor learning and adventure.

The girls took part in a variety of engaging activities designed to build confidence, creativity and teamwork. A highlight of the afternoon was gathering around the fire to roast marshmallows and make delicious s'mores, a treat that was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Pupils also embraced a fun blindfold challenge, using their senses to find, hug and then identify their chosen tree. This activity sparked plenty of laughter and curiosity about the natural environment.

The group made the most of Belmont's beautiful grounds, heading out on a nature walk to explore the surroundings and collect materials. Using these natural resources, the girls created imaginative collages and crafted their own wooden pendants, demonstrating both creativity and a strong connection to the outdoors. There was also plenty of time to enjoy the play equipment, with the zip wire proving especially popular.

Adding to the occasion, Dr Abbot, Head at Belmont, and Ms Alderton, who joined Lyonsdown as Deputy Head in September, took the time to visit the group. They even joined in with the s'mores, helping to make the afternoon feel even more welcoming and memorable.

The event was a wonderful example of how outdoor learning can inspire, bringing together pupils, families, and staff in a relaxed and engaging setting. It was an afternoon filled with laughter, shared experiences, and discoveries.
