The Lyonsdown Learner
Our aim is to instil in your child a passion for learning that will stay with them forever. Our varied curriculum is both demanding and exciting; giving your child the chance to excel and develop as Lyonsdown Learners embedding perseverance, reflection, independence, creativity and collaboration.
Co-Curricular activities, Outdoor Learning, Learning Support and strong pastoral care all combine in a holistic approach, helping girls to become emotionally intelligent, adaptable and develop excellent social skills.
Curriculum
We provide a happy and caring environment in which the girls are encouraged to develop and flourish – each year gaining further knowledge and skills so they are well-equipped for senior School and life beyond School. Girls join us in our Little Lyons Pre-Reception class at age 3+ and progress through to Year 6. Each year group has one class of circa 22 girls. Our curriculum is essentially divided into three phases:
• The Early Years Foundation Stage (for children aged five and under)
• Key Stage 1 (5 – 7 year olds)
• Key Stage 2 (8 – 11 year olds)

Learning Support
At Lyonsdown, we are committed to offering all children a broad and balanced curriculum to ensure the best possible progress for all our pupils. We use the principles as detailed in the Children and Families Act 2014, the SEN and Disability Code of Practice 0-25 Years 2014 (SEND Code 2015) as appropriate for our school.

Outside the Classroom
At Lyonsdown, we are advocates of Outdoor Learning; however, Outdoor Learning is so much more than simply taking children outdoors. Learning is embedded and enhanced by any experience that takes children’s experiences beyond the classroom.

Pastoral Care
The happiness and wellbeing of all our girls underpins everything that we do.
When you visit Lyonsdown, you will be able to see this for yourself, as you will be greeted by cheerful, welcoming and motivated girls who are resilient and respectful, supporting each other and enjoying their learning journey.

Co-Curricular
Lunchtime and after-school clubs provide opportunities for pupils to engage in a variety of sports games, with a focus on developing different skills each week and exploring the tactics needed for success.

Specialist Subjects
At Lyonsdown, we take great pride in offering a comprehensive and enriching curriculum underpinned by the expertise of our specialist teachers. In addition to core academics, our specialist teachers extend their expertise to a diverse range of disciplines including Physical Education, Science, Drama, Art, Design and Technology, Music, and Computing.
