Wellbeing

At Lyonsdown we pride ourselves on the pastoral care we offer our girls.

Our girls flourish in a secure, stimulating environment that instils confidence and actively promotes wellbeing. Good mental health and well-being is essential for school students. It helps them to learn effectively, cope with day-to-day challenges, and develop into resilient young adults (www.gov.uk, 18 November 2022).

Wellbeing at Lyonsdown is underpinned by our core values which were voted in by our School Council in 2022, the aim was to summarise what it meant to them to be a Lyonsdown girl. These are embedded across the school and teacher’s routinely refer to them to encourage a positive and reflective culture amongst our girls.

Optimus Wellbeing Award

We are proud to have been awarded the Optimus Wellbeing Award, a recognition of our dedication to creating a supportive and positive school culture.

Achieving this award is a rigorous process that takes 12–15 months, involving self-evaluation, action planning, and building a comprehensive portfolio to meet high standards. It reflects our proactive approach to embedding wellbeing at the heart of school life.

We believe that wellbeing is a shared responsibility, and we actively promote initiatives that support mental health and emotional resilience. From mindfulness activities and wellbeing workshops to dedicated staff wellness programmes, we ensure that everyone in our school community feels valued, supported, and empowered.

At Lyonsdown, wellbeing isn’t just something we talk about—it’s something we live by every day.
